Students at Aubrey Elementary organized a Halloween for Hunger campaign, collecting donations for the foodbank.

Bianca Lavorata's Grade 6/7 French immersion students went from class to class throughout the school collecting food.

They gathered about 51 boxes of roughly 2,000 non-perishable items, weighing 1,275 pounds - that's up from last year when they collected 998 pounds.

"This year it went up quite substantially," Lavorata said. "I guess the community is getting quite involved now."

On Halloween night, the kids also went out and collected more donations on their own accord. The kids apparently out-collected some big companies that were holding similar drives.
