A 19-year-old Burnaby man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a local woman.
Aaron John Hickey is being held in custody in connection with the death of Tammy Lynn Murray, a 38-year-old Burnaby resident.
Burnaby RCMP got a 911 call on Wednesday morning, and officers found a body in an apartment in the 4200 block of Grange Street.
Thinking the situation looked suspicious, they called in the integrated homicide investigation team.
The police weren't able to identify Murray right away, or even tell if she was female.
Soon after, the detectives arrested Hickey, although it wasn't until they had autopsy results on Thursday that police were able to say how Murray died.
However, they're not releasing that information.
Hickey had his first court appearance on Thursday morning in B.C. provincial court in Vancouver. He will be back in court on Wednesday.
