These are just some of the designs folks can expect to see on the runway during a community fashion show promoting Burnaby designer Yifat Jovani’s latest designs for women. The show is on Saturday, March 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the North Burnaby Neighbourhood House.

A Burnaby fashion designer is showing off some of her new designs at an event this weekend, and the public is invited.

Yifat Jovani has been in the business of fashion for nearly a decade. Her designs, made for women in their 30s to 60s, are available at several boutiques in the Lower Mainland. Recently, however, Jovani has been looking to expand into other retail stores and online, and has plans to open a studio near Hastings Street and Gamma Avenue in Burnaby.

But first, she’s inviting the community to a free fashion show at the North Burnaby Neighbourhood House this Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and the theme of the evening is real women.

“I want to show what it looks like on real women,” Jovani said.

Her designs, made from natural fabrics including bamboo, are perfect for all women of all shapes and sizes, she said.

They work for “women on the go,” she added, and can be worn day and night.

At the March 4 event a selection of new styles from Jovani’s most recent collection will be on display, modeled by clients and friends. There will also be door prizes up, a clothing sale and wine and cheese to enjoy during the show.

No ticket or registration is required. The evening begins at 6 p.m. at North Burnaby Neighbourhood House, 4463 Hastings St. For more information on Jovani’s designs, visit www.yifatjovani.com.
