A bike ride for mental health that started and ended at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium Sunday raised a record-breaking $235,000 this year.

The Canadian Mental Health Association’s Ride Don’t Hide event saw 1,200 participants roll in and out of Swangard for three different rides that took them through parts of Burnaby, Vancouver and Richmond.

Taking place in over 30 communities, the annual ride aims to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental illness, while raising essential funds to support mental health programs.

This year’s Metro Vancouver event took in about $4,000 more than last year with roughly the same number of participants.
