The forum was hosted by the local police department to get residents talking about safety concerns in their neighbourhoods.

Residents joined officers and staff from the Burnaby RCMP detachment at Lougheed Town Centre last week for the police department’s Spring Safety Forum.

The hour-and-a-half event included information on different units within the Burnaby RCMP and a question-and-answer period where residents were encouraged to ask questions and engage in a discussion about public safety in the city.

Top ranking officers, including second-in-command Supt. Stephan Drolet, were on hand to speak with residents, along with volunteers with the Burnaby RCMP crime prevention unit, which includes Block Watch and other community-focused initiatives.

The forum is one of many community events the department hosts throughout the year.
