The City of Burnaby is hosting a weekend of fun to mark its 125th birthday on Sept. 22. Facilities around town will have dancing, a barbecue, face painting, live entertainment, crafts, games, and of course, birthday cake. Attend a gardening class on Saturday, Sept. 23 and learn how to garden through winter. Attendees will learn about using cover crops, lasagna composting and how to take care of their soil over the freezing months. Get laced up and head to Burnaby Lake Park on Sunday, Sept. 24 for the Burnaby Hospital’s 19th annual community fundraising walk and run. There are 5K or 10K options as well as a 1K kids’ run. On Saturday, Sept. 23, the City of Burnaby is hosting Amazing Mudder, where teens (13 to 18 years old) combine their brain power and brawn powers to overcome a challenging scavenger hunt and obstacle course.
