The Arts Club Theatre Company is back on the road with Bittergirl: The Musical, coming to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts March 14 and 15 at the end of its Lower Mainland run.

Bittergirl: The Musical, is a contemporary hit created by three writers and performers – Annabel (Griffiths) Fitzsimmons, Alison Lawrence and Mary Francis Moore – who met in Toronto in 1999 while each was recovering from a breakup. They took their experiences of being dumped and turned them into the smash-hit play bittergirl.

After that, they published the relationship advice book BITTERGIRL: Getting Over Getting Dumped. From there, their success encouraged them to create Bittergirl: The Musical, keeping all their original breakup stories and adding girl-group music from the 1960s and ’70s – incorporating hits such as Be My Baby, And Then He Kissed Me, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and Where Did Our Love Go?

The show debuted at the Charlottetown Festival in June 2015.

For this production, the three “bittergirls” in question will be played by Cailin Stadnyk, Lauren Bowler and Katrina Reynolds, alongside fellow cast member Josh Epstein.

It’s directed and choreographed by Valerie Easton.
