Burnaby performers are taking to the stage in the next Broadway outing by Royal City Musical Theatre.

The theatre company is bringing Cole Porter’s Anything Goes to the stage at Massey Theatre in New Westminster from April 6 to 23.

Burnaby’s Michael Wild is featured as the wealthy British artisocrat Lord Evelyn – the man engaged to young Hope Harcourt (played by Shannon Hanbury), who just happens to be in love with someone else, the Wall Street broker Billy (Daniel James White) – whose pal is the evangelist-turned-nightclub star Reno Sweeney (Madeleine Suddaby), around whom the whole story revolves.

The light-hearted plot combines iconic music by Porter with choreography by director Valerie Easton.

“I have always loved Anything Goes,” said Easton in a press release. “It has an amazing score that will knock you out of your seat and with tunes that you didn’t know you knew.”

Among the hits from the show are the title song, along with I Get a Kick Out of You, You’re The Top, Blow Gabriel Blow and De-Lovely.

“The best fun is to choreograph this tap dancing extravaganza,” Easton said. “We are bringing a young and talented cast of newcomers that will dazzle you.”

Burnaby performers Jacq Smith and Katie Purych are also part of the singing-and-dancing ensemble.

The story is set against the backdrop of a luxury ocean liner and features glamorous 1930s costuming by Christina Sinosich and sets by Omanie Elias. James Bryson directs a full orchestra for the production.

It runs in preview April 6 and 7, with opening night April 8. See www.ticketsnw.ca to buy.
