City tradeshow

Business owners in the city can celebrate Burnaby Business Day on May 24.

The Burnaby Board of Trade is holding the Business Expo and Tradeshow at the Delta Burnaby Hotel to mark the occasion.

More than 50 businesses will be part of the exhibition, and there will be plenty of networking opportunities at the event, according to the board's website.

The expo and tradeshow takes place on May 24 from 12: 30 to 4: 30 p.m., and admission is free.

Cook for a cause

M&M Meat Shops is holding its 24th annual Charity Barbecue Day on May 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. M&M locations, including the one in Burnaby at 7515 Market Crossing, will be raising funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, according to a press release.

Those who donate $3 will receive a hamburger or hotdog, a drink and a bag of chips, and for an additional $2, they can also get an M&M Meat Shops Strawberry Shortcake Bar.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go to the foundation, as the supplies are donated and staff volunteers time for the event.

Chief needed

The regional government is looking for a new chief administrative officer. Metro Vancouver, which has its head office in Burnaby, is looking for someone to succeed Johnny Carline, who retired in February after 15 years.

"The chief administrative officer acts as a change agent on critical issues affecting the public and a wide range of stakeholders and is expected to demonstrate a commitment, both personally and professionally, to sustainability as a core value," board chair Greg Moore said in a press release.
