Gene Logan and his supporters are justified, wanting to shine a light on preventable accidents, whether they pertain to oil spills, airline crashes or car collisions.

They are completely wrong, however, if they believe we should shut down all road and air travel as a result of a preventable crash. Oil is just as much a part of this century. To those of us who live in the here and now they look pretty silly banging on pots because it will not substitute oil.
