The Burnaby Blue Jays got one of their biggest victories of the Lower Mainland Baseball Association season with a come-from-behind 7-5 win over the defending champion Vancouver A's at Robert Burnaby Park on Sept. 21.

John Bell, Jason Rich and Shaun Van Dorn led the offensive charge, each going three-for-five at the plate.

The winning pitcher was Cory Stuart, a former fifth-round draft pick of the New York Yankees who came in with two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth inning.

Stuart got out of the jam to preserve the Blue Jays victory.

The Lower Mainland Baseball Association, now in its 19 season, is comprised of more than 400 players throughout the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley.

The Blue Jays are in the 30+ division and are led by several notable players, including UBC an Southern Idaho alumni Reid Wildeman, a left-handed pitcher and power hitter; Rod Van Dorn Jr., who pitched for the National Baseball Institute; starting pitcher Jeff Weisgerber; second baseman and catcher Nathan Hewitt; and third baseman John Bell, who's new to the league this year, having come out of Wilfred Laurier University in Ontario and already leading the Blue Jays in home runs.
