A large crowd showed up to celebrate Chinese New Year on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Burnaby's Crystal Mall. Local politicians were present for a traditional eye-dotting lion ceremony. The lion dance involves awakening the leading lion and painting its eyes. The lion then awakens other lions that dance and scare away any bad spirits while ensuring health and prosperity for the coming year.
