Dear Editor,
I am disappointed with the Conservative government's stance of paying a small lump sum to our soldiers who have come back wounded for life while serving Canada.
They, instead of politicians, should have pensions for life. They put there lives on the line, in duty for Canada.
I am ashamed that the Conservatives line up for their pensions while these soldiers - heroes - line up for welfare.
Now to add fuel to the fire, we hear of George Derby Centre cutting 90 jobs to save a million bucks. The 300 veterans in George Derby who served overseas and risked their lives, from which many did not return, will pay the price once again with below adequate cleaning and caretaking, for the sake of saving a million bucks.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper spent that much on his India trip alone this week, flying over his motorcade.
I will be out in force this Remembrance Day to honour our veterans. Prime Minister Harper and his Conservative party should remain far away, at the back of the line, where they belong.
