The theft of about 80 tires from a local tire shop on Edmonds Street led to the arrest of a prolific offender by Burnaby RCMP earlier this month.

Between June 6 and 18, a tire shop on Edmonds Street was broken into seven times, according to a media release from Burnaby RCMP.

The owner told investigators he believed the thefts were the work of one suspect. In addition to breaking and entering, the suspect allegedly stole about 80 tires from the store, the release added.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect through video surveillance, and on June 19, officers executed a search warrant on the suspect’s home. While the 80 or so tires were not found in the search, investigators found enough evidence to support four counts of break-and-enter, the release stated.

Peter Valenti, 39, remains in custody at this time. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 30 in Vancouver.
