Coquitlam RCMP have located and arrested a Burnaby man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after he allegedly struggled away from an officer trying to arrest him in Coquitlam Dec. 30.

The officer was injured in the incident, according to police, and the suspect got into a car and drove away.

The Canada-wide warrant had been granted for Marek James Anisimovic’s on Jan. 11, and the 36-six-year-old was arrested by the Coquitlam RCMP Prolific Target Team in his hometown of Burnaby on Thursday at about 10 p.m.

He now faces charges of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and flight from police.

Since Anisimovic’s case is now before the courts, Coquitlam RCMP have said they will not be releasing any further details.
