A Burnaby man has been charged with two child-sex offences after an incident in Surrey which might also have involved him being assaulted by a vigilante.

Surrey RCMP were called to the 10100-block of King George Boulevard at about 6:40 p.m. Monday.

Allegations from two different parties at the scene included child luring and assault, according to police.

After officers talked to eyewitnesses and reviewed video footage, one man was arrested and later released.

Surrey RCMP’s special victim’s unit then investigated a complaint made during the incident and arrested a suspect Thursday.

Kuljinder Singh Bhatti, 35, is now charged with trying to lure a minor for a sexual purpose and for making an arrangement with a person for a sexual offence involving a person under the age of 18.

Surrey RCMP told the NOW they are still investigating allegations Bhatti was assaulted during the Monday incident.

Police would not confirm the incident involved the Surrey Creep Catchers, controversial vigilante pedophile hunters, who posted a video Monday night of a sting in a Surrey mall, allegedly involving a man trying to arrange for sex with a six-year-old girl and her mother.

Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
