A 20-year-old man died and another was sent to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Burnaby this weekend.
Burnaby RCMP shut down Gaglardi Way in both directions between Lougheed Highway and Broadway Saturday morning, after a white Ford van and black Nissan collided at the intersection of Gaglardi and Broadway at about 10 a.m.
The van, traveling northbound, had been attempting to make a left turn onto Broadway when the collision occurred, according to police.
The 20-year-old driver of the Nissan was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.
A male passenger, also in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van, meanwhile, escaped with non-serious injuries, according to police.
The crash is under investigation, and Burnaby RCMP couldn’t say if fog, speed or alcohol were factors.
