Luo placed second in the Grade 11/12 core French category at the 13th annual Concours d'art oratoire national competition May 30.

Luo qualified by winning gold at the much older provincial competition – now in its 32nd year – with a speech entitled "Pourquoi apprendre une autre langue?”

"It's an incredible feat to make it to the finals,” B.C. Concours d'art oratoire chief judge, Renée Hamilton-Clark said in a press release. “Taking home a medal is a real achievement. We congratulate everyone who participated; they are all winners. Félicitations!"
