The family of a young Burnaby father who drowned while vacationing in Australia has set the date for his memorial.

The celebration of life for Chris Tylor is on Friday, Jan. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Star Theatre in the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, at 1100 Chestnut St. in Vancouver.

“It will be a celebration of his life at a venue he would approve of, as he was an avid star-gazer,” his sister Dale Tylor wrote in an email to the NOW.
Chris was a Burnaby resident who ran as a Libertarian candidate in Burnaby North-Seymour in the last federal election. He was caught in a rip tide while swimming in Australia on Dec. 11. Dale started an online fundraising campaign to help Chris’s widow and the baby daughter he left behind. The campaign raised $28,655 - above and beyond the $20,000 goal.
