Movers & Shakers: Mother's Love autism fundraiser ongoing

Remember the Mother’s Love fundraiser I mentioned in April? Well, it is continuing until the end of June.

Remember the Mother’s Love fundraiser I mentioned in April? Well, it is continuing until the end of June.

Two local businesses – Anita Alberto Photography and Making Memories with Scrapbooking – are raising money for the proposed Pacific Autism Family Centre.

Thus far, they’ve raised just over $500, according to an email from Debbie Siu, one of the owners of Making Memories.

The Burnaby scrapbooking shop made a paper flower wall backdrop for the fundraiser, she added. Photo sessions are $150 and include an online gallery and 10 digital files.

Siu, who is a teacher at Gilmore Community School, became involved in fundraising efforts for the centre after her son was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The centre is meant for those with ASD and their families, to provide resources and support. It is being built in Richmond.

Partial proceeds from the photo sessions will go to the centre, according to Alberto and Siu.

To book a session, call 604-376-6447.
