Rescue operation underway for stranded parachutist in Squamish

Crews are rescuing a parachutist who got stuck on the side of the Stawamus Chief.

Squamish Search and Rescue manager Landon James said that helicopters are on route to get the stranded person.

“We have everyone possible responding at this point,” he said.

The parachutist doesn’t appear to be in any immediate danger at the moment.

“We haven't made contact with him yet, but he looks secure at this point,” said James.

“He is moving, which is good.”
