The Delta Youth Orchestra's 17th annual Classical Cabaret concert takes place Sunday.

The event will be held in Richmond and will include the orchestra performing with Infinitus, a string trio.

"The interesting thing about their music is it's really out of the box. It's really a synthesis of pop styles along with classical styles. They're playing classical ideas with more jazz and rock-based rhythms," says DYO music director Stephen Robb.

Infinitus is made up of John Littlejohn (violin), Anthony Cheung (viola) and Alex Cheung (cello). Littlejohn is also a faculty member at the Delta Community Music School.

The group formed in 2008 and has been broadcast on OMNI/CityTV, CBC as well as National Public Radio, their website states.

Sunday's concert will also feature Franz Joseph Haydn's London Symphony No. 101 (the Clock).

The event also includes a silent auction and is the DYO's major fundraiser for the 2012-2013 season.

Classical Cabaret is set for Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel, 7311 Westminister Hwy., Richmond. Cocktails will be available at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $65 for adults and $35 for children (including dinner).
