Re: "Improve lane markings," letters to the editor, Wednesday, Feb. 15.
I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Leung and Mr. Reemeyer about the need to improve lane markings on our roads. The standard of lane markings in the Tri-Cities is appalling.
Too often the lane lines have degraded to the point where they are difficult to see even in good conditions, let alone the dark wet conditions that this area of the world is prone to for at least four months of the year. Friends and relatives from other countries often comment on the lack of effective markers on our roads and say they would not feel comfortable driving here in winter. For safety's sake, let's invest in reflective paint and/or reflectors on our roads, or at least repaint the lines before they degrade to invisibility. Doing otherwise might save a few bucks but places lives in danger.
