UPDATE: Alleged assault still under investigation say RCMP

The Burnaby RCMP are still investigating the alleged assault of a campaign worker at Anne Kang’s office last week.

The Burnaby RCMP are still investigating the alleged assault of a campaign worker at Anne Kang’s office last week.

Activists who staged the protest in Kang’s office said they would not leave until they had a meeting with John Horgan about demovictions in Burnaby, but they left on threat of arrest.

Ivan Drury, member of the Alliance Against Displacement, told the NOW last week he was detained and then released on the scene for an alleged assault against a campaign worker.

But Burnaby RCMP said today an investigation into an assault against a campaign worker is still ongoing.

“It’s still under investigation. Nothing’s been decided yet,” said Cpl. Daniela Panesar, media officer for Burnaby RCMP. “It hasn’t been concluded, which means it’s still under investigation.”

The story will be updated as new information is obtained.
