Dear Editor:

One of the reasons there has been an increase in the number of accidents involving pedestrians is that more and more pedestrians break the traffic rules.

I have noticed in recent years a marked increase in pedestrians walking against red lights and jaywalking.

I am all for increased use of crosswalk cameras and enhanced lighting, but in addition, there needs to be strict enforcement of the traffic rules against pedestrians.
