Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect in an alleged attack last week.
On Sept. 6, a man, standing outside an apartment building on Dunblane Avenue, was allegedly stabbed in the neck by another man. The alleged assailant left the scene right away, leaving the victim alone, according to a media release.
The victim was able to call 911 and emergency services arrived on scene. The original 911 call came in to police dispatch around 4 p.m. but was abandoned and couldn't be traced. Around 10:30 p.m. a second alert came through, alerting the police a stabbing had taken place earlier in the day.
The victim was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery to repair the wound. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have identified the suspect as 23-year-old Burnaby resident Merrick Holowka. He is Caucasian and 5'4" with a slight build and short brown hair. Holowka has a tear tattoo in the left corner of his mouth.
Burnaby RCMP have issued an arrest warrant on one charge of aggravated assault and are warning the public not to approach Holowka if they see him.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911, Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922, or Crime Stoppers at 604-222-TIPS.
