Thousands of people turned out despite the rain sprinkles on Sunday at the Edmonds City Fair.

The event, which ran for five hours and closed down Edmonds Street between Canada Way and Kingsway, featured a talent show, classic car show, petting zoo and amusement rides and activities for the kids.

"A good time was had by all," said Coun. Paul McDonell, one of the organizers of the event. "It sprinkled rain a little, but for the most part, the weather was pretty good and pretty comfortable."

The local band Rainshadow also provided interactive entertainment, as they had youngsters play air guitar with them.

McDonell said that while the numbers for car show participants was slightly down from last year, the Edmonds City Fair did feature more static displays, including non-profit booths where organizations provided useful information to attendees.

No party is complete without a barbecue and with Save-On-Foods providing the hamburgers and hot dogs, people were well-fed at the fair.

Organizers are hosting their wrap-up meeting Wednesday to see what ways they can improve the event in 2013.

"We're always looking to do better things at this event," said McDonell.
