RuiLin Huang of Burnaby won the inaugural Chinese Cup badminton tournament in Richmond earlier this month.

The Douglas College star defeated top seed Joanna Che in straight sets, 21-12, 21-15, to win the women's singles comfortably following a tough three-set victory in the semifinals.

Former Douglas student Alvin Lau won his first singles title in five years, knocking off both the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the men's singles event.
