Simon Fraser University runner Helen Crofts was named the female Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor track and field athlete of the year.

The award came on the heels of her NCAA Division II national championship win in the 800-metre event. Crofts won the race in a time of 2:05.96, earning a total of three All-American awards along the way.

Crofts also led Simon Fraser to two All-American awards in the relay events as the women finished third in the distance medley relay in a time of 11:37.62 and eighth in the 4x400-metre relay in 3:47.14.

After redshirting last season due to an ankle injury, the two-time NAIA 800m champion was able to close her indoor career with a final title, this time in the NCAA.

The senior will now turn her attention to the upcoming outdoor season, when the Clan open their season on March 30 at the University of British Columbia.
