Christine Sinclair was named the Women's Professional Soccer player of the week for the second time.
Sinclair was recognized following a two-goal performance in the league-leading FC Gold Pride's 2-0 win over Philadelphia on July 17.
On Wednesday, Sinclair moved into sole possession of second place in league scoring with her eighth goal of the season in the Pride's 2-1 win over the Boston Breakers
Sinclair is arguably Canada's top professional female athlete, having won five consecutive Canadian player of the year honours. She is also a four-time FIFA world player of the year nominee.
Later this year, Sinclair will play for the Canadian national team in a fifth straight attempt to qualify for the women's World Cup.
B.C. IN GROUP A
British Columbia won their opening round matches at the boys' and girls' under-14 and -16 national soccer championships Wednesday.
With the wins, the B.C. teams will compete in the Group A division.
The u-16 girls, including Kayla Klim, Lindsey Pulice, Tamara Roughead and Simran Parmar, defeated host Newfoundland and Labrador 2-0.
In Sherbrooke, Que., site for the boys' championships, Manual Mangu of Burnaby helped B.C. better Nova Scotia 4-0.
Burnaby Selects Paris Gee shared in a 9-0 whalloping of P.E.I. in their opening round match.
At the Prairie Invita-tional soccer tournament in Winnipeg, Burnaby Selects Adriano Clemente, Justin Dhaliwal and Nicholas Pineda-Graham were selected from B.C.'s u-15 boys' team to play in the player distinction game selected by the Canadian Soccer Association.
Two other Burnaby Selects, Mark Baldisimo and Jeff Raman, were part of the provincial team at the competition.
