The Simon Fraser University men's soccer team will receive their 2012 NCAA West Region championship rings in a special ceremony on Thursday night in the West Gym.

The ceremony will take place in between games at the men's and women's basketball double-header.

The men's basketball game will feature the Clan taking on fourth-ranked Seattle Pacific at 5:15 p.m. The women's team will then host the defending Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion Alaska Anchorage Seawolves at 7:30 p.m.

SFU president Andrew Petter will present the Clan players and coaches with the rings that commemorate the team's West Region championship, and their appearance in the NCAA Final Four, the first-ever by a Canadian school.

The Clan men's soccer team went 16-1-1 in the regular season en route to their third consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship.

Their post season journey took them to Hayward, California, where the Clan defeated Cal State Stanislaus before heading to Phoenix, Arizona, where SFU defeated the Grand Canyon Antelopes in the Sweet 16 and the Incarnate Word Cardinals in the Elite Eight to reach the Final Four.

In the national semifinal, the Clan travelled to Evans, Georgia, where their NCAA national title aspirations were ended by the Saginaw Valley Cardinals.

Clan players picked up numerous post season awards, including five players receiving All-American honours in different polls and Helge Neumann being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America scholar All-American team.

The ring ceremony will take place immediately following the men's basketball game at approximately 6:50 p.m.
