Burnaby/New Westminster district rival Burnaby South Rebels made it to the second round of the Telus Basketball Classic last week.

Manpreet Nijjar opened the pre-season tournament season with a team-high 20 points in South's 62-51 win over Steveston-London.

Junior Desiree Lister chipped in with a dozen points for the Rebel girls. South dropped its second-round game to No. 1-ranked Brookswood 86-62. Stephanie Labbé scored 17. Lister added 15 points.
