Local American Basketball Association team sign two new players

The Vancouver Balloholics basketball team are going big for its upcoming American Basketball Association games at BCIT in February.

The Balloholics signed 6-8 Nanaimo product Stuart Wallensteen this past week, who will bring much needed size to the team's rebounding. The 235-pound forward played high school at Xaverian in Brooklyn, New York. He also played at Murray State College in Oklahoma and received a diploma in business.

The Balloholics added another player to the senior team. Gabe Gibbs, a 6’6″ G/F from Detroit, Michigan, who practiced once with the team in September before heading off to China is back with the teasm for the stretch run.

The Balloholics are now a very big and athletic team in the PNW region.

Gibbs played his junior college ball at Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Oho on full scholarship. He moved on to NCAA Division II Glenville State College in West Virginia on scholarship. Gabe graduated with a degree in social psychology.

In 2010, Gibbs attended a Euro Pro summer camp
 and in 2011 played with the IBL Lansing Capitals
 and the NBADL trial LA Defenders in 2013.

Gibbs will be in action this Friday, Jan 30, when the Balloholics take on the Lakewood Panthers at the Langley Events Centre. Tip off is at 8 p.m.

The Balloholics will play two ABA games at BCIT in February.

The first is on Valentine's Day against Lakewood. A week later, the Balloholics are back at the BCIT campus to take on the Kitsap Admirals. Both games are 7 p.m.
