The Champs International Skating Centre is home to some world-class figure skaters already, including Olympic medallist Kevin Reynolds.
Add three-time world champion and two-time Olympic silver medallist Patrick Chan to the list.
The Ontario native announced this week that he and coach Kathy Johnson will relocate their training centre to the Burnaby-based Champs centre, with an eye on developing a specialized training facility in Richmond at a later date. Chan and Johnson will make the move from Detroit in July.
βThe decision to change environments was a collaborate (sic) decision with my team and after reflecting on the past season we decided to make the move to Vancouver,β said Chan in a statement.
Champs, which supports numerous national and international skaters, is operated by coach Joanne McLeod.
