Simon Fraser University rebounded from its second loss of the season with an 86-42 win over Western State Colorado in women's basketball.

Senior guard Kaite Lowen scored a team-high 18 points - all three-pointers - in a non-conference matchup at the Thanksgiving Classic in Grand Junction, Colorado on Saturday.

On Friday, the Clan lost for a second time this season to a nationally ranked opponent, dropping an 84-76 decision to No. 16-ranked Colorado Mesa.

Against Western State, SFU held a 31-point lead at halftime, substituting freely throughout the game.

Freshman forward Rachel Fradgley scored eight points, junior Meg Wilson had eight points and a team-high six rebounds, while freshman forward Samantha Beachamp also had eight on four-of-five shooting off the bench. Sophmore Ellen Kett chipped in with eight assists.

Against Colorado Mesa, Wilson and Erin Chambers combined for 41 points in a losing cause.

Wilson scored a game-high 23 points, including six rebounds and three assists, while Chambers pitched in with 18 points, five boards and a single assist.

Redshirt freshman Elisa Homer added a dozen points to the Clan scoreline.

"We were outworked at crucial times. We gave up too many rebounds and put ourselves in foul trouble early, which made things difficult," said SFU head coach Bruce Langford.

Wilson and Chambers combined for five points to shave the deficit to 80-76 with 50 seconds left on the clock.

But Colorado Mesa played ball possession the rest of the way sinking two free-throws and a layup on the final possession to hold on for the win.

The Clan will open the Great Northwest conference season this Saturday, Dec. 6 at home, during which Terry Fox's No. 4 will be raised to the rafters prior to the men's game at 7 p.m.
