Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named Canadian player of the month in the CFL.

During the month of August, Cornish, a former St. Thomas More Collegiate provincial player of the year, rushed for 372 yards in three games, averaging 6.6 yards per carry.

Cornish rushed for 170 yards in Calgary's 31-20 win over Hamilton and later added 159 yards on the ground in a 17-10 victory over Saskatchewan.
