Teddy Bear Toss night this Saturday at Copeland

Simon Fraser University closes out its 2014 B.C. Intercollegiate hockey schedule against Eastern Washington University this Saturday at 7 p.m.

Jono Ceci scored on the opening shootout attempt to give the Simon Fraser University club hockey team a 5-4 victory over Trinity Western University last Saturday.

The win improved the Clan’s B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League record to 7-6-0-0.

The University of Victoria and Selkirk College are tied for second place, three points behind front-running TWU.

First star Adam Callegari had a three-point night, including the go-ahead 3-2 goal following a three-goal SFU middle period.

Matthew Berry-Lamontagna put the home team ahead 4-3 midway through the final frame one second after Trinity Western had tied the score.

Ryan Bakken of TWU finally sent the game into extra time with five minutes left in the period.

Andrew Parent backstopped the win in goal, stopping 23 shots and all three shootout attempts in overtime.

The Clan will close out the 2014 schedule against Eastern Washington University this Saturday on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre at 7 p.m.

Bring  a teddy bear, or buy one at the game, and toss it onto the ice when the Clan scores its first goal of the game. All proceeds go to a Christmas charity.
