They've played preseason games against BCHL competition before but tonight, Friday and Saturday will be the first times the Wenatchee Wild have done it as full members of the league.
The Central Washington-based club starts a three-game road swing through the Lower Mainland tonight in a 7:10 p.m. start against the Coquitlam Express. The game will be played at the Burnaby Winter Club.

Wenatchee continues Friday with a 7 p.m. game in Chilliwack and plays Saturday at 7 p.m. in Surrey.

“It’s been a fun summer of preparation and our guys are eager to test themselves against BCHL competition," said Wild head coach Bliss Littler. "Our road trip this week through the Lower Mainland will be a good measuring stick against our Division rivals and is a key part of getting ready for the season.”
Wenatchee can carry four Canadian players on their roster and will also bring most of their regulars, including goalie and Detroit Red Wings draft pick Chase Perry. Also coming on the trip are captain Mike Coyne and top returning scorer Brendan Harris who is committed to NCAA Div. I St. Cloud State.
Including Harris, Wenatchee has eight NCAA-committed players to start the season. Matt Burchill to Air Force, Gage Mackie to Arizona State, Donovan Ott to Cornell, Bryan Yoon to Colorado College, August von Ungern-Sternburg to Brown, Matt Baker to Dartmouth and Troy Conzo to UMass.

The last time the BCHL had a U.S.-based team was 1995 when the Bellingham Ice Hawks played their final season.
