Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers was named this year's Burnaby Business of the Year at the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards gala Wednesday night.

The company's headquarters, which was established in the Big Bend neighbourhood in 2009, is a LEED Gold-certified facility - the first in Burnaby - with more than 300 employees.

Other category winners were also announced at the gala at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown, according to a press release from the Burnaby Board of Trade.

The winners are:

? West Pacific Consulting Group, Small Business of the Year

? Mark Bodie of Habitat Systems, Business Person of the Year

? Computers for Schools, Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year

? Gourmet Baker, Environmental Sustainability

? Gloo Studios, Entrepreneurial Spirit

? Teradici, Business Innovation

? Scotiabank, Burnaby Community Spirit

? Pacific Blue Cross, Family Friendly Organization

The 12th annual awards were a joint initiative between the board and the City of Burnaby.
