New Westminster residents showed their respect for veterans at the 2012 Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Veteran Jack McGee, who retired last year as president of the Justice Institute of B.C., delivered the memorial address at the Nov. 11 ceremony at the Royal Westminster Regiment Armoury.

Prior to taking on his role at the Justice Institute, McGee had served as a Royal Canadian Navy and Air Force pilot and base commander at Canadian Forces Base Comox.

Following the ceremonies at the Armoury, people paraded to the Cenotaph in front of city hall, where two minutes of silence was observed at 11 a.m.

Four planes did a fly-by during the wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.

The annual Remembrance Day ceremonies in New Westminster also included a march-past on Royal Avenue.
