We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend.

This weekend, arts and culture rank high on our list. Here's the Burnaby NOW's suggestions for things to do from Jan. 20 to 22:

1 Get into the Celtic spirit and attend a Robbie Burns dinner featuring the New Westminster Police Service Pipe Band.

The dinner includes great Highland and Celtic entertainment, door prizes, a raffle and a dinner and dance.

The fun takes place on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Engineers Hall at 4333 Ledger Ave. in Burnaby. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., and dinner starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $50 and can be reserved by calling 604-939-9614.

2 Get out and celebrate Chinese New Year at Brentwood Town Centre on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. Chinese arts and crafts will be offered in the children's play area from 1 to 4 p.m., a Chinese dragon and lion dance will take place in the centre court from 1: 30 to 3 p.m., and a blessing of the merchants throughout the mall will run from 3 to 4 p.m.

3 Get into the Chinese New Year mood by enjoying activities taking place in Lougheed Town Centre on Saturday, Jan. 21 starting at 10: 30 a.m.

While you're there, see if you can't find some deals at the winter sidewalk sale that runs until Jan. 23.

4 Get your groove on by dancing to the music of the So Tight Band, who'll perform at the Admiral Pub and Grill at 4125 Hastings St.

They perform a range of music including R&B, pop, disco and funk. For more information about the band, visit www. thesotightband.com.

5 Get a look at the works of Takao Tanabe, an important figure in Canada painting for more than 60 years.

A retrospective exhibit of his work features drawings and watercolours from 1945 until the present day.

Tanabe's work is in public and private collections including the Vancouver Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Canada, the Tate Museum in the United Kingdom, the Art Gallery of Ontario and right here at home at the Burnaby Art Gallery. Chronicles of Form and Place: Works on Paper by Takao Tanabe concludes on Sunday, Jan. 22. The Burnaby Art Gallery, located at 6344 Deer Lake Ave., is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
