1 Get celebrating reading on Saturday, Sept. 10 for the Burnaby Public Library pancake breakfast and summer reading club medal award ceremony. This event, to honour children who participated in the library's summer reading program, is held at Burnaby Civic Square at 6100 Willingdon Ave. The event includes breakfast from 8: 30 to 11 a.m., along with entertainment and activities from 9 to 10: 45 a.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.

2 Get gardening with the South Burnaby Garden Club Annual Fall Fair, running Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bonsor Recreation Centre. This event includes amazing exhibits, baking, canning, vegetables, flowers, photography, crafts, wine and children's entries. For more information, contact Dan at 604-526-4647.

3 Get bottle collecting on Saturday Sept. 10 for the third annual Gilpin Daycare Bottle Drive, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5490 Eglinton St. All proceeds to help establish an out-of-school childcare centre at Gilpin Elementary. For more information, go to www.sbnh.ca.

4 Get into French on Saturday, Sept. 10 for the Burnaby French language playschool Open House, running from 10 a.m. to noon at Marlborough School, 6060B Marlborough Ave. (off Sanders Street). 5 Get walking and running on Sunday, Sept. 11 for the Rhythm of Life: The Run and Walk for Everyone, starting at 10 a.m. at Burnaby Lake Park. Register today and support the Burnaby Hospital. For more info, go to www. bhfoundation.ca or call 604-431-2881.

6 Get your kids inspired at an open house for L'Atelier Exploration Studio at 5097 Canada Way from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
