What's up for Easter weekend

Peter Cottontail is hopping on down the bunny trail into Burnaby this weekend and there are plenty of fun events planned for his arrival. But Easter events for the kids aren't the only things happening - there is lots going on in the city.

Peter Cottontail is hopping on down the bunny trail into Burnaby this weekend and there are plenty of fun events planned for his arrival. But Easter events for the kids aren't the only things happening - there is lots going on in the city.

We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. Here's our list for the holiday weekend.

1 Get decorating Ukrainian eggs with the Ukrainian Community Society at Lougheed Town Centre this weekend.

This beautiful art form will be showcased in the shopping centre near London Drugs.

Tools and supplies will also be on sale at the event, and the society is also running workshops on how to make your own Ukrainian eggs.

2 Get brunching at The Riverway Clubhouse or EBO Restaurant and Lounge. The Clubhouse is offering an Easter brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $35 per person. Reservations are recommended.

EBO Restaurant has brunch seat-ings at 10: 30 and 11 a.m., and 1 and 1: 30 p.m. The cost is $39.95 per per-son, with six to 12-year-olds at half price, and children up to five years old eat free.

3 Get hunting for eggs and for a glimpse of the Easter Bunny in Burnaby. The Easter Bunny is making an appearance at Lougheed Town Centre on Saturday, with meet and greet times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Mossop the Bunny is at Brentwood Town Centre on Saturday, auditioning to be Brentwood's Easter Bunny at the Bunny's Got Talent show at 11 a.m., with crafts to follow.

There is also a Bunny Hop Skate at Bill Copeland Sports Centre from 12: 30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, as well.

For those on the hunt for eggs, there's an Easter egg hunt for the kids at CG Brown pool on Sunday between noon and 1: 30 p.m.

4 Get watching ONE, a multi-disciplinary take on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

The production, put on by Ghost River Theatre, focuses on Philistine, a librarian who searches for the love of her life, George, an astronomer who was lost at sea.

The show was created by Jason Carnew and is directed by Eric Rose.

There are performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. For tickets, go to tickets.shadboltcentre. com

5 Get buying chocolate at local shops such as Charlie's Chocolate Factory, located at 3746 Canada Way.

Another option is Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie, which opened recently in the Heights at 4712 Hastings St.

Chocolatier Christophe Bonzon has been preparing his delicious chocolate egg sculptures for the holiday. Go to the Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie page on Facebook for more information.

And there are always plenty of toys and treats at other local business and the city's three shopping centres - Lougheed and Brentwood town centres and Metropolis at Metrotown.
