The April showers have returned and may be around for the weekend, but there is still plenty to do indoors in Burnaby, from shopping to learning about Norse mythology. We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. Here's our Top 5 list for April 12 to 14.

1 Get listening to award-winning pianist singer and composer Tyler Yarema at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts tonight. He has played on more than 50 CDs, ranging from blues and jazz, to reggae and pop, and has been the main attraction every Tuesday and Saturday at the world famous Reservoir Lounge in downtown Toronto for a decade. 2 Get shopping for a bargain at the Burnaby North Lawn Bowling Club's indoor yard sale. The annual fundraiser includes used goods and a bake table. The sale takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the clubhouse at the north end of Confederation Park, Willingdon Avenue and Penzance Drive. Also in the neighbourhood, there is a flea market at Confederation Community Centre at 4585 Albert St. on Saturday as well, from 9: 30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

3 Get munching pancakes at a charity pancake breakfast at South Burnaby United Church, 7591 Gray Ave., on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The breakfast is sponsored by the As One That Serves (Luke 22: 27) Men's Club.

4 Get celebrating spring at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre. The free Celebrate Spring family festival takes place on Saturday from 11: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the centre, 6688 Southoaks Cres. The festival will include kimono dress-up, a tea ceremony, make your own haiku, kids crafts and more. There is also a special Sakura Bento lunch. Japanese tea and sweets will be on site. 5 Get exploring history at Nordic Spirit 2013: To Canada with Hope, a festival of photos, talks and activities depicting Nordic immigrant life in North America to 1960. The opening reception is on Saturday at 11: 30 a.m. There are talks on Viking-age archeology, Norse shipbuilding, Nordic design, Norse mythology and Nordic values, and more. The festival takes place at the Scandinavian Community Centre at 6540 Thomas St. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free though there are fees for some specific workshops. 6Get helping the Burnaby Gogos by shopping at the Beads, Bags and Books sale on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at Deer Lake United Church, 5135 Sperling Ave. There will be handcrafted beaded jewelry from Kenya, locally made tote and shoulder bags, used books for $2, and refreshments. Drop by to learn more about Stephen Lewis' Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign. All proceeds go to the campaign. For more information, go to www.greatervangogos.org.
