A Penticton family is living a nightmare after they say their baby was attacked by their own dog.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by Daniel Hill of Penticton, his brother Adam's baby Kade was attacked on the evening of May 31.

"My brother's wife, Amber, and Kade were taken by jet to Vancouver Children's Hospital. Adam drove the long drive alone to make it before Kade went to the operating room." Hill explains. "Kade was rushed into the OR and was in surgery for almost five hours. Mom and Dad were unsure of the extent of the damage.

Hill reports that doctors told Adam and Amber that Kade's optical bone in his right eye and his nose were shattered and would require extensive repair that will mean numerous trips back to Vancouver.

"The oldest boy Ty will also require some counselling as he witnessed the entire thing," Hill wrote.

He set up the GoFundMe to help cover the family's expenses during this time, as Adam is the sole provider of the home and has been off work.

"[They] will not have enough to cover all the expenses of bill, rent, medication and the trips back to Vancouver again," Hill wrote.
