Driver launches through cinderblock wall into New West backyard

The vehicle just missed a swimming pool

A driver crashed a vehicle into the backyard of a New Westminster family on Sunday.

The crash happened in the area of McBride Boulevard and Mott Crescent at 9:10 a.m.

The driver of a westbound Toyota Camry left the road at high speed onto a grassy area, then over curb and launched across Mott through some trees/shrubs and crashed through a cinderblock wall - ending up in the backyard of a home. The hurtling vehicle narrowly missed the home’s pool and a children’s trampoline.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver from the car.

BCEHS rushed the male patient to Royal Columbian Hospital with significant injuries.

New Westminster Police Department have closed Mott Crescent and investigators have been called in.
