North Vancouver Shoppers Drug Mart employee tests positive for COVID-19

The retailer's parent company says it shares updates about test-positive COVID cases in stores in order to maintain transparency.

An employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart store in North Vancouver has recently tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of national chain Shoppers Drug Mart provided an update to its COVID-19 employee case listings on Jan. 29.

The following store is affected:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 879 Marine Dr, Unit 110 North Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on Jan. 24.

The Village on Marine Shoppers store is not considered a coronavirus public exposure location by Vancouver Coastal Health.

Additional new B.C. employee COVID-19 cases were listed Friday for Loblaw-owned Extra Foods in Merritt and Wholesale Club in Terrace.

Loblaw currently lists 12 stores in British Columbia with employee COVID-19 cases.

The retail giant says it shares updates about test-positive COVID cases in its stores in order to maintain transparency.

"In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores," notes Loblaw.

When there are employee virus cases, Loblaw says: “Generally, the risk to our customers remains low, due to the physical distancing and sanitization measures that have been in place in our stores for months."
