Onward and upwards — again — at the Sea to Sky Gondola

New cable has arrived after the previous gondola cable was cut in September.

The Sea to Sky Gondola is one step closer to re-opening, again, after its newest cable arrived.

"After travelling over 8,000 kilometres from Switzerland to Squamish, the new Fatzer AG

cable has arrived at the Sea to Sky Gondola," the attraction posted on Facebook late on Feb. 9.

A representative for Bronco Transportation told The Chief one of its drivers delivered the cable reel earlier Tuesday.

“We look forward to the next steps of the rebuild process and welcoming you back in late spring/early summer,” reads the gondola Facebook post.

The gondola cable was deliberately cut for a second time, Sept. 14.

It had re-opened on Valentine's Day 2020, after being cut the first time on Aug. 10, 2019.

No arrests have been made in either sabotage.

RCMP continue to investigate.

In September, the gondola owners put forward a $250,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved.
