Several Metro Vancouver stores report new employee COVID-19 cases

Affected stores are located in Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, North Delta, and Surrey

Multiple team members working at the Real Canadian Superstore at 8195 - 120th Street in North Delta have been infected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

Major national grocery and drug store chains operating in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley have reported several new employee coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the past few days.

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of retail chains Shoppers Drug Mart and Real Canadian Superstore provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case listings on March 27, 28, and 29, indicating the following store and case information:

  • Real Canadian Superstore, 8195 - 120th Street, North Delta: Multiple team members tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 14650 - 104th Avenue, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on March 22.
  • Real Canadian Superstore, 2332 160th Street, Surrey: The last day the team members worked was on March 21 and March 26.
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, 432 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was on March 24.
  • Your Independent Grocer, 18765 Fraser Highway, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was on March 23.
  • Wholesale Club, 5335 Kingsway, Burnaby: The last day the team member worked was on March 23.

Additionally, Loblaw is reporting a second employee coronavirus infection at its Sewak's Your Independent Grocer, located at 8200 Bear Paw Trail in Whistler, which is in the Vancouver Coastal Health region. That store employee was last on the job March 26, while the previously reported infected employee had last worked a shift on March 22.

Loblaw-owned T & T Supermarket posts employee case updates on its website, however, the company has not had a case to report in British Columbia in the last two weeks.


Sobeys Inc, which operates stores like Safeway and Thrifty Foods, updated its B.C. coronavirus case tracker March 27 to indicate one new case of someone employee at a store in B.C. That new case is as follows:

  • Thrifty Foods - 3210 Edgemont Blvd. North Vancouver: Last day the store employee worked was March 26

None of the above store locations are listed as potential COVID-19 public exposure sites by Fraser Health or Vancouver Coastal Health.


Note: Sobeys has been incorrectly posting the address of the Thrifty Foods store in North Vancouver on its corporate site. The correct address is 3210 Edgemont Blvd.
