Burnaby pets were a little less pampered this year – but they’re still living the good life, according to Amazon Canada.

Today (Oct. 2), the global online retailer released its annual ranking of top 20 cities in Canada with the most pampered pets, and this year Burnaby placed eighth overall behind Gatineau, Mississauga, Saskatoon and Kitchener.

Coming out on top this year is London, Ont., beating out Calgary and Vancouver, which placed second and third, respectively.

The annual rankings, in its sixth year now, are calculated by comparing per capita sales data for items bought through Amazon.ca for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles and small animals. The data only looks at cities with more than 100,000 residents, according to a press release from Amazon Canada.

Last year, Burnaby placed sixth overall and was first in the country when it came to spending on cats. This year that honour went to Toronto, followed closely by Calgary and Edmonton.
